Nursing and
Residential Care Home in Manchester
New Medication System
The Biodose medication system is no doubt the future of handling medications in care
homes. It simplifies the process of administering liquid and tablet medications so that all of the residents'
medications are in neat, sterile blister packs with all of that persons medications for that time of day in 1
simple pod.
The pods are clearly labeled with that individuals' medications and a picture of the
resident can be printed on to each pack to ensure that no mistakes can be made by a nurse, even if that nurse has
little knowledge of the homes residents'. Perfect for the rare occasion when an agency RGN may be employed within
the home.
Biodose was developed by Protmed, a fresh and exciting new company and Flixton Manor
is proud to be one of the first homes in the northwest to move on to their system.
The companies sales executive Mark Collins has been fantastic in showing us the
benefits of biodose and we look forward to starting the new system on the 3rd April 2010. To find out more

Manchester-based care home Flixton Manor, has announced a 60% reduction in medication round times by adopting
Protomed’s medication management system Biodose® to administer prescriptions to its
residents.
“Biodose has hugely improved efficiency and revolutionised the way we handle medication, bringing our processes
into the 21st century,” says Rashad Al-Safar, director of Flixton Manor care home. “This technology
has proven its value by streamlining the way we manage and administer prescriptions and by raising the quality of
care for our residents. By moving away from rudimentary blister packs to this new intuitive alternative, the risk
of human error in measuring liquid medications is reduced and round-times are cut. Our care workers now have more
time to dedicate to essential hands-on patient welfare.”
“The effect Biodose has had on productivity and consistency at Flixton Manor is a clear example of the difference
tried-and-tested medication management systems can make,” says Protomed director, Norman Niven. “We will continue
to work with care homes like this, to help them use their limited resources more effectively, and simultaneously
raise the quality of care for residents.”
